Event Navigation

Canada Day Observing with the best vantage point in Brandon for the fireworks!

Happy Canada Day!! Take a peak at Jupiter and Mars and a few other stellar objects while we wait for it to get dark enough for the fireworks at the Riverbank Discovery Center! We have limited roof space so chairs are limited to those who have made arrangements in advance by emailing us at buao@brandonu.ca. The weather should be amazing and guests are welcome to stay up with us after the fireworks to explore the night sky.

Guests are welcome to bring their own cameras.

It’s best to arrive for your observing period a little early. Please meet us at the Ancillary Service office, on the main floor of McMaster Hall. The closest and easiest entrance is through the glass link between Darrach Hall and Harvest Hall (cafeteria). There is parking in Lot #4, on the 300 block of 20th Street.

Please Note: Weather conditions could prevent observing (eg, Cold, Winds, Snow, Rain, and Lightning). Often times presentations will still be available on these evenings even though access to the roof and observatory will not be possible.

Brandon University is committed to being an accessible institution. To ensure that any event is available to all who are interested in attending, please advise us in advance of any accessibility considerations. Accessibility contact: communications@brandonu.ca
