Canzona Choir pro series concert
The Brandon University School of Music pro series welcomes the nationally renowned choir Canzona to a performance at Knox United Church the evening of Nov. 21.
“Canzona is a terrific choir — one of the very best in Canada,” said Greg Gatien, Dean of the BU School of Music. “They have performed here before to a packed house, receiving an enthusiastic standing ovation.”
On this return performance, Canzona, will bring 18 vocalists, plus nine orchestra players (two violins, two violas, one viola da gamba, one cello, one bassist, one organist and one recorder player). Tickets are just $20, available at the door, for the performance, which will take place at Knox United Church in Brandon, starting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2022.
Rooted in a love of Baroque music, Canzona’s mission is to transform audiences through exceptional choral performance. Founded in 1989 by conductor Henry Engbrecht, Canzona is now in its 31st season and has become one of Manitoba’s premiere choral ensembles. Under Artistic Director, Kathleen Allan, the choir continues to delve into the Baroque masterworks while staying committed to introducing Manitoba audiences to lesser-known composers and providing context for the works of the past in the contemporary world. Canzona’s mandate is to bring exceptional choral music to Manitoba audiences and to provide high-level professional opportunities for Manitoba singers.
