Changpin Li: LDG methods for typical time-fractional partial differential equations
Event Navigation
A talk by a visiting professor from China this Thursday at Brandon University is a sure formula to pique the curiosity of people interested in math.
Dr. Changpin Li is a professor in Shanghai University’s Department of Mathematics. He has presented his research around the world and has three books and close to 100 research publications to his name. He is visiting Brandon as a guest of Dr. Chenkuan Li of BU’s Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.
Dr. Changpin Li’s talk on Thursday will focus on methods for solving time-fractional partial differential equations, in particular what are known as LDG methods. Partial differential equations help us to understand a wide range of phenomena, including the movement of sound, heat and fluids as well as quantum mechanics.
The talk will include numerical examples that will support his analysis.
Everyone is welcome to the talk, which will take place from 2:40 to 3:40 p.m., in Room 1-53 of the Brodie Building. Light refreshments will be provided.
Brandon University is committed to being an accessible institution. To ensure that any event is available to all who are interested in attending, please advise us in advance of any accessibility considerations. Accessibility contact: communications@brandonu.ca
