Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival Celebrates Manitoba’s 150th Anniversary of Confederation

A VIRTUAL MUSIC EXPERIENCE
The 2021 Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival has a program full of incredible music planned for you, and we can’t wait to get started. Six concerts and a movie night starting August 8th and running until August 21st.
On Sunday, August 8th, we will launch our Manitoba 150 festival with a special virtual concert. World Premiere: Manitoba Music- Choreography! The commission is created especially for the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival.
A suggested minimum donation for each concert is $20 for each concert.

Looking forward, remembering our past: a journey of song to Manitoba’s prairie past and three world premieres. Choreography & Manitoba Music, commissioned especially for the Festival, grace our Opening Night.

Concert #2: “Quotations and Homages”
Tonight we focus on Manitoba composers and artists, with chamber works for guitar, clarinet, cello, piano, flute and voice. A concert of intimacy and surprising power.

“Wheat City: 1900s, Making Modern Brandon”
A film recounting the formative years of Brandon, Manitoba, created by historian Tom Mitchell, with music by Dr. Ken Nichols; Sandra Smith, violin; Catherine Wood, clarinet; Leanne Zacharias, cello; Alla Turbanova, piano.

A perennial favourite of the Festival, the “Coffee Concert”: playful and evocative tunes performed by Graham Campbell, James Campbell, and the Graham Campbell Ensemble.

Concert #6: Festival Finale
Jazz and Dance: Chopin meets Isadora Duncan. World Premiers! New commissions written specially for the Clear Lake Chamber Music Festival: Kathleen Hiley’s choreography on “Toccata” by Francis Pott, John’s Baron “Static’ and “Hymnal”, and Sid Robinovitch’s “The Drunken Sailor”.
