OPEN TO BU FACULTY AND STAFF AS PART OF THE WORKING AT BU SERIES

The focus of this session is to help us understand and recognize our own unconscious bias, and discuss behaviours to mitigate the preconceptions we are prone to. Join Cheryl Fleming, Diversity and Human Rights Advisor to discuss:

  • What is unconscious bias and when does it happen?
  • Why do people hold biases or stereotypes against others?
  • Types of bias; cultural, gender and systematic
  • Bias pitfalls and how to avoid them
  • How do we change and become aware of our unconscious bias?
