THIS LEARNING OPPORTUNITY IS OPEN TO BU EMPLOYEES.
People of all ages use substances for various reasons, many of which can be accessed legally as well as illegally. Both types of substances may alter a person’s mood and/or behavior, but not everyone will have the same signs and symptoms.
This presentation and discussion will explore the following:
- What is substance misuse/addiction
- Brief overview around the different types of substances people use
- Common side effects (behavioural and physical) of the substances most commonly used by university students
- How and when should I respond if I suspect one of my students is misusing substances
