People of all ages use substances for various reasons, many of which can be accessed legally as well as illegally.  Both types of substances may alter a person’s mood and/or behavior, but not everyone will have the same signs and symptoms.

This presentation and discussion will explore the following:

  • What is substance misuse/addiction
  • Brief overview around the different types of substances people use
  • Common side effects (behavioural and physical) of the substances most commonly used by university students
  • How and when should I respond if I suspect one of my students is misusing substances
  • Resources

Facilitator: Dana Naismith, Assistant Professor in Faculty of Health Studies (Psychiatric Nursing)

Accessible by Zoom.
