Indigenous Peoples Day

Brandon University is honoured to support National Indigenous Peoples Day 2019 in Brandon.

June 21st will mark the 23rd Anniversary of celebrating National Indigenous Peoples Day in Canada.  This is a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples.

On June 13th, 1996 a Proclamation was signed honouring and celebrating First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples declaring June 21st of each year as National Aboriginal Day.

In Brandon, the celebration for National Indigenous Peoples Day will take place at the Riverbank Discovery Centre and Festival Park (545 Conservation Drive) between the hours of 12 – 8 PM.

Join us on June 21st as we celebrate Aboriginal culture through music, displays, activities and ambiance.  Also included this year are Inuit performers, Tipi Village, Pow Wow demonstrations, Square Dancing, children’s activities, cultural artifact displays and a food tent.
