National Indigenous Veteran Day
Event Navigation
Tuesday, November 8 is National Indigenous Veterans Day, a federal memorial day set aside to recognize Indigenous contributions to military service.
Indigenous Veterans Day is commemorated annually on Nov. 8, and is about making efforts to better understand the role Indigenous Veterans have played in Canada, and expressing our heartfelt gratitude. Ceremonies are held across Canada to mark this day, and Canadians across the country should pause for a minute or two to honour our Aboriginal veterans.
Today, beaded poppies will be available for purchase outside the Indigenous Peoples Centre on campus, until 3 p.m. Provided by the Brandon Beading Babes and Indigenous Peoples Centre, drop by the table to see the beautiful beaded poppies and say hello. There are approximately 30 poppies available for purchase, with prices ranging from $25–75 each. Funds go to support the beading group with supplies.
