This event will feature short lecture-recitals.

Chris Schneider (Gender & Women’s Studies / Sociology – BU): “The Sociology of Music: The Role of Technology and Culture in Shaping Identity Through Music Consumption Practices.”

Music is a social phenomenon that helps individuals make sense of themselves through their experiences of music. This talk will explore the role of popular culture and technologies like social media in understanding how people experience music as a social force connected to both individual awareness and social structures.

As usual, the lecture will be followed by a pizza reception in the faculty lounge.
