Following the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and in order to further greater understanding, The Association of French Manitoba Authors (AAMF), in collaboration with The Truth and Reconciliation Committee of the University of Saint-Boniface, will, for their first Salon de Gabrielle Roy (Autumn 2021), host distinguished writers, Georges Sioui, professor of History, Native Philosophy and Spirituality at the University of Ottawa, author of Hurons-Wendat, l’héritage du cercle, and Denis Combet, professor of French Literature, Language and Civilization at Brandon University, author of Gabriel Dumont, Souvenirs de résistance d’un immortel de l’Ouest. Georges Sioui and Denis Combet will discuss their work and answer questions about contemporary issues related to Reconciliation and the most recent horrific discoveries at Residential schools. A tribute to the writer Gabrielle Roy, this inaugural Salon will be emceed by Martine Bordeleau. The event will be conducted in French.
