Truth and Reconciliation Poster Unveiling
Event Navigation
Brandon University (BU) will unveil a new poster that will be distributed around BU’s campuses to remind and encourage everyone to work toward reconciliation.
The poster, featuring the artwork of Coast Salish artist Chad Leon, highlights some of the 94 recommendations and Calls to Action on education from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s final report.
The first poster will be hung outside the School of Music Office on Friday, Nov. 9 at 2:15 p.m. The brief ceremony will include smudging and a prayer by Knowledge Keeper Debbie Huntinghawk, as well as comments by BU Interim President and Vice-Chancellor Dr. Steve Robinson.
Posters will then be distributed to be displayed prominently around campus as a daily reminder of the work needing to be done at BU and other educational institutions to begin to repair the damage done by the residential school system in Canada.
