Up close and personal with Rusty the owl
Event Navigation
It’ll be a hoot! Brandon University is pleased to host Rusty the owl for a special family-friendly event organized by Westman Naturalists.
At this family-friendly event, you can come and get up close and personal with a live owl! Learn about Manitoba owls with biologist and world owl expert Jim Duncan. Using a variety of media, personal owl impressions, owl parts and ‘puke’ (aka pellets), and Rusty (a female Long-eared Owl) Dr. Duncan will introduce you to the mysterious lives of these nocturnal creatures, including some new and fascinating research on Manitoba owls.
Since 2005 Jim and his owl colleagues have given over 450 owl presentations to over 21,000 people, from pre-school kids to retirees. If you have not seen this presentation come out and see why it continues to be a much sought-after experience. Bring your camera or video camera and ‘capture’ Rusty as she flies over your head!
The event will be held Friday, Jan. 17 from 6:30–7:30 p.m. in Room 1-52 of BU’s Brodie Science Building. There are more than 150 seats available, but space may be limited if turnout is high. Free parking is available in Lot 10, off Louise Avenue, with convenient access to the Brodie Building.
