Brandon University

Event Navigation

Everyone is encouraged to wear red on May 5, 2023, in honor of MMIWG2S. May 5 is the National Day of Awareness and Action for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Gender diverse people. On this day we aim to raise awareness about this ongoing crisis and devastating impacts of MMIWG2S and take action.

We will honour and remember the women & girls who have lost their lives due to colonial and gender-based violence, and their families and communities that live daily with the grief of losing loved ones.

Please join the Indigenous Peoples’ Centre from 12:00pm-1:00pm in the courtyard for a gathering in honour of missing & murdered Indigenous women and girls. There will be picket signs, a fire, and drumming, as well as a prayer from knowledge keeper Suzie McPherson-Derendy.

Brandon University is committed to being an accessible institution. To ensure that any event is available to all who are interested in attending, please advise us in advance of any accessibility considerations. Accessibility contact: communications@brandonu.ca
