SUMMARY:Mentorship session with Black and racialized nursing and psychiatric nursing students
DESCRIPTION:This mentorship session creates a supportive\, judgment-free space for Black and racialized nursing and psychiatric nursing students to connect with Dr. Bukola Salami (University of Calgary)\, a nationally recognized scholar in Black and racialized people’s health. \nThe session will focus on mentorship\, lived experience\, and navigating academic and professional pathways in health-related fields. A hot meal will be provided for the first 20 in-person student participants\, and all participants (in person and virtual) will be entered into a door prize draw. \nRegistration is required. \nAbout Dr. Bukola Salami\nDr. Bukola Salami\nDr. Bukola Salami is a full professor and Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Black and Racialized People’s Health at the University of Calgary. She is a member of the Royal Society of Canada College of New Scholars\, Artists\, and Scientists; Vice president of the Canadian Nurses Association; Board member and Health Working Group co-chair for the Black Opportunity Funds; Founder of the African Child and Youth Migration Network; and Founder and Lead of the Black Youth Mentorship and Leadership Program. \nPlease join us in welcoming Dr. Salami to Brandon University to discuss strategies for faculty to support Black and racialized students in universities. \nBlack History Month at Brandon University\nEach February\, Brandon University recognizes Black History Month by celebrating the contributions\, histories\, and lived experiences of Black communities\, while creating space for learning\, dialogue\, and connection.
