DESCRIPTION:The finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup are here — and Brandon University is proud to host a Community Sports Weekend put on by the Brandon Local Immigration Partnership (BLIP) at the BU Healthy Living Centre \nJoin BLIP for plenty of activities\, refreshments\, and viewing of the World Cup third-place playoff and the World Cup Finals. You’re encouraged to wear your favourite jersey and participate in the games. \nActivities and games will take place outdoors\, with World Cup viewing shown on the big screen inside the main gym. DESCRIPTION:The Black Manitobans Chamber of Commerce invites the Brandon University community and the broader public to attend a special Emancipation Day Celebration honouring Dr. Gervan Fearon\, on Saturday\, August 1\, 2026. Dr. Fearon served as BU President from 2014–17 and was the first Black president of a Canadian university. \nThe celebration will include a free Youth Fireside Chat from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the WIS Multicultural Centre\, 403 13th Street\, Brandon. This interactive conversation will give youth\, students\, emerging leaders\, and young professionals an opportunity to engage directly with Dr. Fearon\, ask questions\, and learn from his leadership journey. \nThe celebration will also include a free Legacy Award Gala that evening at the Clarion Hotel in Brandon\, recognizing Dr. Fearon’s historic leadership and contributions to Brandon University\, the City of Brandon\, Manitoba\, and Canadian higher education.
