Allan’s forthcoming Uncut: A Cultural Analysis of the Foreskin at the Gathering Space of the John E. Robbins library on Thursday November 21st at 6pm.\nWe will be treated to a short reading from the book and a discussion of how Dr. Allan’s research in the archives lead him to explore texts as diverse as parenting manuals\, dating columns in newspapers\, ephemera from fetishists\, medical literature\, reports from international development organizations\, as well as the manifestos of activists for what they can reveal about our understanding of the foreskin\, and how this understanding reveals that notions of masculinity\, agency\, and sexuality are in flux.\nPlease RSVP. Pizza and refreshments will be served\, courtesy of the Department of English\, Drama\, & Creative Writing. \nThe Literary Lounge is for student creative writers of all levels working in any genre of writing\, whether poetry\, fiction\, non-fiction\, drama\, or any other form.
