The programme includes Beethoven's ‘Cello Sonata in A Major, Op. 69. School of Music alumni and spouses Yuri Hooker and Michelle Mourre are active in Winnipeg’s music community. Yuri is the principal ‘cellist of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and is also an avid chamber musician, while Michelle is an award-winning orchestral conductor and collaborative pianist. the pro series, Jeremy Dutcher, voice and piano
Jeremy Dutcher The programme will include tracks from Dutcher’s groundbreaking recording entitled Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa. A trained operatic tenor, Toronto-based Jeremy Dutcher’s creative approach to writing morphs from classical to jazz, through contemporary and traditional elements. Recently, his compositional efforts focus on the music of his Wolastoq First Nation culture. Music of the Mediterranean Launches pro series Season BRANDON, MB—The 2019-2020 pro series season kicks off with a ground-breaking programme entitled "Mediterranean Encounters: Judeo-Muslim Soundscapes". This evening of Sephardi-Mizrachi music is a first for the pro series, and introduces to Brandon audiences New York-based ethnomusicologist, composer, bandleader, multi-instrumentalist and singer Samuel Torjman Thomas. Pro Series Concert Park Sounds is a new duo comprised of Manitoba-raised, Montreal-based musicians Jennifer Thiessen (viola, viola d'amore) and Ben Reimer (percussion). Their debut program, Root Systems, is inspired by a diagram of the deep root systems of prairie plants and explores themes of origin, belonging and culture.
