DESCRIPTION:A brief stand in solidarity against violence will take place in the Kavanagh Courtyard. \nWe ask those who wish to attend to gather at 4 p.m.\, with a moment of silence to follow shortly thereafter.  This event will be open to all students\, faculty and staff as well as to the wider community. Those in attendance\, or anyone who wishes to show their support from afar\, are invited to wear purple\, the colour associated with awareness of intimate partner violence. \nParking at campus lots will be free on Friday afternoon. \nPlease be aware that there may be photographers or media on site.

DESCRIPTION:This concert has been post-poned to Fall 2026. \nTruth and Reconciliation requires more of us than ceremonies\, placards\, and mission statements. Honest work in this area starts in the mind\, pushing us to examine biases and privileges so that we can act earnestly to include\, celebrate\, and amplify marginalized voices. It also requires us to examine the systems in which we operate\, including the ways we create art and music. Sonic Dreaming\, first established in 2022 by Tahltan performance artist\, Peter Morin\, and Canadian trombonist\, Nora Wilson\, is a methodology that prioritizes genuine connection to the land to facilitate creation. It is a means for reflection that leads to art that includes the land as a collaborator. It encourages artists and musicians to imagine the possibilities of a life lived free of colonialism. Sonic Dreaming teaches us to recognize how the people\, animals\, plants\, and waters who share territory intertwine with our own lives in a beautiful and ever-evolving tapestry of this land. \nThis concert will help our collaborating musicians find greater connection with our territory\, resulting in a beautiful set of new music presented to our BCP audience. Sonic Dreaming is storytelling from beginning to end. Musicians will spend time on the land together\, listening to and learning the stories shared by their fellow collaborators. This dialogue leads to joint creations celebrating the themes experienced on the land. Sutherland Gallery of Art \nSteeped in Clay explores how fragmented childhood memories resurface through the meditative process of ceramics\, using the teapot as a symbolic vessel to transform personal and shared experiences into narrative objects that invite viewers to reflect on their own memories of place\, imagination\, and time. \nLee Beaton is a BFA (Honours) candidate majoring in Ceramics. Located in Portage la Prairie\, MB\, Beaton has been working towards this degree part-time since 2016.  \nThe exhibition will be on display March 26 to April 4\, 2026. DESCRIPTION:IshKaabatens Waasa Gaa Inaabateg Department of Visual Art presents: \nBack to the Process \nA BFA Thesis Exhibition by Haylee Janai \nOpening Reception: April 9 at 7:00 pm \nThe Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art \nHaylee Janai was born into a fully plugged-in world\, yet raised within a hands-on\, craft-centred family. This contrast informs her focus on the potential obsolescence of the human hand in an increasingly digital culture. Through cyanotype and ceramic sculpture\, she draws on lived experience to examine how touch\, skill\, and process persist or fade amid accelerating technological change. \nHaylee Janai would like to extend very special thank you to the Manitoba Arts Council for a Learn Scholarship\, which greatly assisted in the creation of this project. She would also like to send a heartfelt thank you to her professors and peers of the IshKaabatensWaasa Gaa Inaabateg Department of Visual Art at Brandon University for the knowledge and assistance gained throughout her university experience. \nThe exhibition will be on display April 10-11 and 14-18\, 2026. On the first anniversary of her partner’s tragic death\, Jackie copes with her guilt and loneliness by drinking and smoking up. When Jackie finds out that her best friend Rooney has split-up with her long time partner Tay\, she feels her remaining relationships are in peril. Rooney and Tay are Jackie’s only friends\, and have been each other’s pillars of support since they were kids. \nA visually alluring film full of heavy emotions and sharp\, witty dialogue\, Ruthless Souls confronts the pain of loss and highlights the human ability to overcome grief. Madison Thomas’ sophomore premiered at ImagineNative 2019. \nBrandon Pride is excited to be able to offer a free viewing of this film with CanFilmDay and showcase a Manitoban-made film. Snacks will be available to enjoy during the movie. \nPlease note there is no MPAA rating for this film but it is a heavy emotional drama and may not be suitable for younger audiences. \nA smudging ceremony will be performed at this event.
