Masterclass with Sylvia Richardson, soprano and Robert Richardson, piano

Brandon University School of Music is delighted to welcome back distinguished former faculty, Sylvia and Robert Richardson, who will give a masterclass in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall on Thursday, November 1, 5:30-7 PM.  Sylvia (soprano) and Robert (piano) served as a “dynamic duo” on the faculty of the School of Music for more than forty years – performing and teaching together and influencing several generations of young singers and pianists, many who have gone on to enjoy significant careers on operatic stages, recital halls and in institutions of learning across Canada, the US and Europe.  The Richardsons’ yearly recital was long one of the highlights of the Lorne Watson concert calendar.  Their repertoire spanned the full gamut from the early Baroque to the very new, though they were perhaps best known for their interpretations of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century masters.  They will work with six singers and pianists on repertoire ranging from early modern composers Richard Strauss and Claude Debussy to Canadian composer, John Weinzweig, with whom the Richardsons studied during their time at University of Toronto.  The Masterclass is free and open to the public.
