🎆 Canada Day Fireworks and Astronomical Observing
Using a solar filter to look at the sun through a BU telescope. We have limited space, an amazing view, and an infinite sky. Join us for our annual Canada Day Observing from Brandon University's Astronomical Observatory where we will observe four or more planets! The telescope in the observatory has recently been fully cleaned, and the rooftop deck has been rebuilt, adding new space. Guests are welcome to bring their own cameras. It's best to arrive for your observing period a little early. Please meet us at the Ancillary Service office, on the main floor of McMaster Hall. The closest and easiest entrance is through the glass link between Darrach Hall and Harvest Hall (cafeteria). There is parking in Lot #4, on the 300 block of 20th Street. The summer is slowly coming to a close and we are taking advantage of our clear nights. There will be anywhere from 8-48 hours notice for an evening of stargazing. Groups will be smaller and only one observing session each night. Our stellar objectives for the nights it to "see what we can see".
